Nieuport 23 ‘N5017’, Teddy Franchomme, 5me Escadrelle, 1917.

This aircraft had several markings versions, with the upper wing Belgian roundel showing as overpainted in one photo (Page 89 of The Belgian Air Service in the First World War by Walter Pieters) and present over the PC 10 upper wing paint in other photos. For this profile I have depicted it as it appears in the Pieter’s book as this is the only complete port side photo of the aircraft. This N23 also had a small rectangular mirror installed in the rear of the upper wing.
